a Chautauqua scholar and professional actress takes you on an
amazing journey from Eleanor's shy, awkward childhood, to life as
the First Lady and later as a supporter of the formation of the United Nations.

Teen Zone - Technology: It's All Relative

Teens are invited to explore ancient writing technology, transform your name into an Egyptian cartouche, make a set of magical Runes, sing "Bingo" Egyptian or Viking style then return to the present with today's technology.

Family Art - Fairy Dwellings
Saturday, March 13, 2010 - 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
How do the fairies live? This is our chance to
make wee houses for a fairy, troll or dragon. We’ll
breathe life from our imaginations into our hands
and follow our fancy. We will work with clay,
nature’s gifts, fabric and magic to make a place
to return to again and again. This is not just for
young people because we could all use a bit of
time in fairyland.
Taught by Sidonie Wilson, Family Art is designed for adults and children to create and explore a variety of art mediums together. It starts with a demonstration and art conversation followed by creative work time. Space is limited, sign up at the library or call 385-6544 to register. Registration starts two weeks prior to each session.

Third Annual Sea Stories at Fort Flagler
Presented by Jefferson County Library and Friends of Fort Flagler
Saturday, April 10, 2010 - 6:00 p.m.
An evening of story, song and poetry from those who've been to sea hosted at Fort Flagler State Park. Live performances in the theatre begin at 6:00 p.m. Performers include Wayne Chimenti, Dano Quinn, Joanna Reichold and the Makah Canoe Society. Donations will be accepted at the door. The evening includes an optional wild salmon dinner by In-Season Catering at 5:00 p.m. Cost for the meal is $15.00. Ongoing Events at Jefferson County Library
Toddler Storytime
Mondays at 10:15 a.m.
A storytime for children ages 12 months to 30 months featuring movement, music, puppets and fingerplays as well as flannel stories and the reading of short books written with toddlers in mind.

Preschool Storytime
Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m.
All preschool children are invited to attend.

Homework Spot
Tuesdays and Thursdays from
2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
For the fifth year the library is offering homework assistance. Students in 5th grade through high school are invited to the Homework Spot Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning October 6, 2009. In a friendly and supportive environment, students have a place to work on projects and assignments, surrounded by the rich resources of the library. No reservation required.
Reading Corner
Tuesdays and Thursdays from
3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Students in 2nd through 5th grades are invited to sign up for the Reading Corner. Tutors are available to help students with reading using a variety of library resources. Spaces are available for the fall session, which runs from October 6 to December 17, 2009. Please call 385-6544 for reservations.
