Dial Up Catalog Access

The CLAN library catalog is available for you to dial into from a personal computer at home, at work, or at school. This is a solution for those who do not have Internet access. If you have Internet access you can use Web PAC.

By dialing into the CLAN catalog you can access materials from any of the CLAN libraries: Jefferson County Rural Library, Port Townsend Public Library, Quilcene School Library or Brinnon School Library. You can search for materials by author, title or subject. In addition, you will be able to place holds, renew materials, and review your personal patron record.

The catalog is available 24 hours a day, except for weekly system maintenance on Monday evenings from 8 p.m. until Tuesday mornings at 8 a.m. There may be other times when it is not available due to special projects or system maintenance the library must complete.

To log into the CLAN catalog:

1. Turn on your computer and start the communication program. For Windows users this is usually Hyperterminal, found under the Accessories menu. For Macintosh users this is usually found in Claris Works.

2. Set the default options as follows:
Baud rate: 9600
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Parity: None
Duplex: Full
Emulation: VT100

3. Dial the CLAN Dial PAC phone number: 379-1414

4. Press the RETURN/ENTER key until you reach the Search Menu screen and follow the instructions to begin your search.

Logging Off:

1. From the main Search Menu select "Quit Searching" and press RETURN/ENTER.

2. At the "disconnecting" message hang up your modem.

If you have any problems or questions on this please don't hesitate to call the Library at 385-6544.
